Post Report: Tsuya-Tsuya Makeup Workshop@ Beauty & Spa Show '09

Last Friday, the readers from this blog had the opportunity to attend a hands-on make-up workshop where the attendees had the occasion to learn Korean inspired looks. The workshop was organised by Tsuya-Tsuya at the Beauty & Spa show at Midvalley on Friday 27th Nov.

Scheduled for three days over the weekend, however, due to unforseen circumstances, the weekend workshops had to be postponed to another more viable time in future.

Many thanks to Tsuya-Tsuya management for organising this workshop, as well as for the lovely doorgifts presented to the readers who went, as well as allowing us to come in to learn how to create those lovely divine Korean inspired looks.

Me before the makeover

After the 5pm Hands-On makeover (Sassy Korean)

Be not deceived. Of all the students, I was the last to graduate that day. I had to keep removing the eyeliner, but they finally let me go when "it looked okay enough to walk around with". LOL.

It took me a while to get the hang of the eyeliner-eyeshadow look. But no worries, I am learning!

The RM50 worth of Tsuya-Tsuya Door Gifts.
Okay, I will apply it-- when I learn to..

We were taught the right way to keep the gel eyeliner.

I've been busy & fretting about the whole of the weekend, so will update more of this post later!

Mini-Review: Synergy Face Treatment @ 128 Faubourg Pavillion.

Nov 28th- 2009

Today, I finally went for my first "official" facial at 128 Faubourg-

Yes, among one of the the official flagship outlets for Sothys.

Hmm, but am not in the mood to blog about it.

However, you can read of my angry and upsetting experience in the incident of the Pavillion with the Debit Mastercard here.

Then you'll know why I am in bad mood!

I'll update this post later.

10th Dec 2009

How was the experience? Well-- let's not talk about the experience--

Its about whether the facial shows results- It's not cheap I must admit. RM210 (RM50 discount).

But for the 7 days after -- I could officially announce the results. My face "glowed".

At least, that is what my next door colleague mentioned.

She mentioned there was something different about my face. and no, it was not because I had my bushy eye-brows trimmed. LOL.

Even my maid-

The way I test the effectiveness of the facials I go to is whether the people around me observe any difference. If they were the first to ask, that would show that the facial actually works. If my face does not any kind of improvement, it's time to change the facial service provider!!!

Product Review: Tsuya-Tsuya Cedar Brown Gel Eye Liner

In line with the Tsuya-Tsuya make-up workshop coming up, a few bloggers were hand-picked to try out the Cedar Brown Eye-Liner for reviews.
  •  Tammy puts the eye-liner to the test... she is happy to find the gel eyeliner container sealed with a foil, which is a great indicator to let users know the product's freshness is immaculate. She also likes that the eyeliner brush is soft which is suitable for delicate eye areas.  ^^

The eyeliner brush & smudgepot.

The freshly opened foil.

  • Jessying - Jess was impressed that the gel eyeliner brush came with a cap to ensure that it was hygienic on first purchase. It was also water proof, smudge-proof, and long-lastingly shimmering for an entire evening out.
  • Von Von- Von notices that the eyeliner glides on smoothly, and has a light texture. It also doesn't dry quickly, allowing her time to blend & smudge it the way she wants. Von found 6 different ways to use the eyeliner. Read here to know what it is!

Short Eyelashes? Here's a solution.

Fake Eye Lashes Not Needed.

They may look nice, but you need a good hand, and the glue can get messy...

In line with the Tsuya-Tsuya make-up workshop coming up, a few bloggers were hand-picked to try out the Angel Eye & Mascara Set. (as pictured below).

The Products Tested Were
  • 1 x Black Fibre For Volumising
  • 1 x White Fibre For Lengthening
  • 1 x Long Lasting Mascara.

Read up to find out what they did....

  • Jessying- Her review on the mascara. Jess managed to get her eyelash lengthened to 18 mm (0.8 inches), and is pleased with it as she does not know who to put on falsies (fake lashes) well, so this is a good way of going about it ^^. She also says its easy to be cleaned and removed with the eye-makeup remover.
  • Von Von- Gives a step-by-step review on how she applied the mascara. She particularly likes that the mascara is long lasting, and that it is practically smudge proof the entire day. Von Von managed to extend her eyelashes from 4mm to the maximum length of 15mm!
  • Plus Size Kitten- Tammy is rather impressed with the mascara and says it is in her Holy Grail list of eye-makeup to use.

Its 4 days countdown to the Big Day!

It's 12  4 days countdown to the big day.

So far, my plans for a Sunday pre-celebration may come to pass is changing to some what-a-mig-jag I Have No Idea What It Will Be.

As I really wanted to try out their services, I've booked myself in to a 3.30pm, 128 Faubourg Pavillion..first time ever facial in a proper, premium salon.... wondering how much it costs. *LOL*  however I have to cancel the salon appointment as I am just recovering from a flu. *SIGH*

Maybe I should change it to match the schedule I had made in the earlier entry, lol.   Just going to meet up with an old friend on Sunday afternoon itself....

Now, what about the big day itself?
Well, I've something up that evening already.. just a small intimate session with a few mates after work...

A hole in my Christmas stocking this year...

The great trouble with this time of the year is that promotions are aplenty.. with many numbers of cosmetics and skincare companies putting their Christmas sets out for sale. . .

As much as I would like to get my hands on them, it is seriously financially damaging, if not impossible to my pockets...

From what one can see from my beauty closet, I already have enough skincare products to last the next 12 months to come...

Here are some of the items which has passed me by.... and you'll know why they seem very tempting.

Last week, I was at Bizzy Body, and they had 20% off for their Skin Nutrition range. As much as it seems to be a good deal, my pockets are too dry.. I couldn't care less about their body or facial treatments, but the brand Skin Nutrition is becoming a hot name recently, and has been heavily promoted in the masses of late...

Even for Elken, as a Direct Selling companies, has its tempting star products the Eternal Beauty & Corpsdevere girdle... about RM4.6 grand in total... *with 24 months instalment basis, if I choose to go in that direction*.

Clarins also has the nice Youthful Eye Partners  Christmas set going at RM330+..  Thing is, I refuse to buy any products, which I have yet to sample. As I have yet to sample any of it, with sales assistant who are not too forthcoming with samples, I refuse out of principle!

As Clarins state, Power To Try... so please empower me to Try Before I Buy.. Thank You Very Much.

Kiehl's also has the nice Line Reducing Eye Brightening Concentrate which I was told is dermatologist recommended... have been trying out their Men's Eye Alert range, and hopefully the latter works..(former a bit pricey la)..

I probably should stop heading to these places, leaving all my cash cards at home so that the temptation does not get to me ..

Probably about time I just stayed home and started concentrating on memorizing my korean verbs instead.

*LOL.*

Mini-review: 128 Faubourg Cooling Hydro Eye Treatment

The Origin Kit

On Saturday morning, I had gone to 128 Faubourg Pavillion to redeem my complimentary 128 Cooling Hydro Eye Treatment worth RM90. It was in the form of a voucher that had come along with my purchase of the Origin Kit the week before.

My appointment was at 10am, and I was already running late! So my therapist, Celine called to enquire where I was. I was just on the Ground floor of the mall.....

ON ARRIVAL

When I arrived, Celine brought me to the room, where I removed my shoes and bags to be placed in the lockers.

I then had a foot soak whilst she set up the room. The foot soak served to not only cleanse my feet, but for sanitary reasons as well.

Celine then asked me to lie down on the treatment bed, where she then proceeded to cleanse and remove my make-up, along with a scrub.

THE EXPERIENCE

It was a fairly comfortable and soothing stress-free experience. As it was a flagship salon under Sothys, it was unquestionable that all products used were of their own range.

Celine also gave me a short shoulder massage, which she explained was part of all facial treatment routines.

For the face mask, she had applied an eye masque gel/cream on my eye area, followed by another cotton gauze and another warm eye masque paste on top of it. That was left on for 15minutes.

During that time, I fell asleep.. as I was really tired that morning... and would not have minded sleeping  more! LOL.

She then removed the mask, cleansed it again, and then applied toner & moisturiser before releasing me.

Before leaving, I was ushered to their make-up room, which contained the range of Sothys cosmetics to put on, as the one I had applied in the morning had obviously been removed! (LOL)

The entire session took up to 30 minutes and more. By the time I was done, I was already late for class!

MY FEEDBACK

All in all, it was a good experience to check out the ambience and service of the salon.

The therapist, Celine was patient, explaining each part of the procedure. Celine was free with providing beauty advice, and what I liked was that she did not use the information that I had given to try to solicit a sale. She was not pushy, but of course, she did ask if she could arrange an appointment for me. ^^

As this is my birthday month, and I was a member from purchasing the Origins Kit, I had a voucher that  entitled me to 50% off all facial treatments priced RM220 and above! Yes, so am waiting to try out their  range of hydrating facials soon..

Just need to arrange an appointment before my voucher expires.....

Skin Nutrition: DMAE & Body Beautiful Complex

Product Background Information: Skin Nutrition is a premium brand currently marketed in the United States. The company is licensed and registered in South Africa.

The SKIN NUTRITION brand has a range of products from body care to face care and health maintainence. Currently, the SKIN NUTRITION brand is marketed in Malaysia via their sole importer Emma Lizs salons, Bizzy Body salons, and specifically at Parkson Subang Parade, Parkson Sg. Wang Plaza, and Parkson Miri.

The range I bought: Skin Nutrition DMAE (60 capsules) and Skin Nutrition Body Beautiful Complex (60 capsules).

Product: Skin Nutrition- DMAE (60 capsules)
Functions:
*stimulates acetylcholine production.
* acts as an antioxidant to help stabilize cell membranes
*may enhance water retention in connective tissue, causing the surface of the skin to tighten.
Key ingredients: DMAE (Dimethylaminothanl) 1000mg
Recommended usage:2 per day.

Product: Skin Nutrition- Body Beautiful Complex (60 capsules)
Functions:
*promote beautiful skin, hair, nails.
*burn stored fat and support weight loss
*heighten energy levels
*combat free radicals.
Key ingredients: White Tea Extract 50%,
Green Tea Extract 95%, Rhodiola Rosea Rosavins 3%,
Hyaluronic Acid, Siberian Ginseng,
Concentrated Omega 3 Oils (DHA EPA).
Recommended usage: 2 per day.

RRP: RM1000 for four bottles of 2 of each type (after 10% discount).

Dosage: I took 2 of the capsules- only one type of the supplement was consumed at each time to prevent over-dosage. I was not advised to take more than 2 tablets of the supplements at any one time. I normally leave the bottles in the office, taking them in the morning, or after the mid day meal.

Effectiveness:

Both these products were bought in late April, and currently now in Sept 2009, I am on my last leg of the DMAE capsules. I was recommended both these brand of capsules to go with the package that I was undergoing at my current salon.

The reason it has taken this long for the consumption of the supplements was due to the many missed daily occasions that I did not partake of it, hence prolonging the duration and remaining amount of the supplements.

As both these products were used intermittently and at the same time, It is difficult to concur if both these products have been effective independently of each other, as it was not utilized in a controlled environment to be able to state the effectiveness of each type. There are many other factors that will affect the weight loss process, and in my situation, certain hormonal issues may had come to play.

In essence, the Skin Nutrition products on my part was only used as a supplement to support the weight loss process. Apart from that, I have also undertaken dietary changes i.e. changing my eating patterns, not having meals after 8pm, cutting down on carbs at dinner, cutting down on caffeine and coffee intake, increasing water intake.

The Skin Nutrition supplements on my office desk.

My Recommendations: RM1000+ for four bottles of these products is Extremely Pricey.

Granted, I've read that Skin Nutrition is a premium brand in the United States, and regardless of where their products are purchased, the price is standard internationally. Factor in too that since these products are imported from the United States, the currency exchange is high enough to kill your enthusiasm on purchasing it online with their shipping rates in a non USD currency.

In this stance, if you are thinking of getting your SKIN NUTRITION supplies, and think it works for you, try getting your supplies at a local salon reseller as most may be able to provide consumers a better price or heavy cash discount.

Since you'd be the consumer who will be plonking down your hard earned cash for these lovely supplements, I'd advise that unless you are earning a lot of dough, you may want to consider other ways of maintaining your weight or helping with your weight loss.

How Should I Celebrate My Birthday?

This is the milestone year when I finally turn 30. YES, the BIG three! I had the impression that after our 21st birthday, every birthday seems to pale by comparison..  but whatever, it's my birthday! Instead of waiting for others to be reminded when my birthday is, I am informing them in advance..

*it's in the fourth week of November.. 24th of this month*. Yes, the month of November is upon us now.

So, How Should I Celebrate My Birthday?

I got the idea to blog about this from Tammy as she was so open about her last year's birthday celebration! ^^

My week days and weekends are almost crammed to the max (trying to study my hangul verbs, Christmas play, servicing my clients), with barely a few hours free to do much shopping on Saturday afternoons. Sunday is the perfect day to have an early birthday celebration as my Sunday afternoons are almost free ...

After my usual Sunday chapel service, here is a "made-up" plan ..

2.00pm    Mid Valley Signature Gardens- Watch "Final Destination".. (This is the only movie that piqued my interest.. have not even watched latest instalment of Harry Potter... that long ago!

5.00pm    Have a body massage & facial therapy in an up-scale spa somewhere in town. Maybe at a high-class 5-star hotel where the staff won't be pushy to try their treatments *laughs*, or at Sothys, or Clarins..

8.30pm   Have dinner at a fancy steak house in town with friends.. (hmmm *meat* .. or pasta).

10.00pm  Head over to a fancy club/ karaoke till almost midnight to end the day's celebration!

Sounds like a viable cool plan to me!
